Dal Tortellini

I have adapted Dal ki Dulhin to the American lifestyle and teach it too.

In my version I cook dal with spinach, carrots, celery and tomatoes...then give it a nice chonk.

Instead of the hard work of making the aata and rolling and adding it to the dal... I use store bought cheese and spinach filled little tortellini's...cook it as per package directions and then add it to the dal...

and garnish with store bought french fried crispy onions and ofcourse dhania.

It really is a one thing meal... wholesome and satisfying.

Dal Ki Dulhin

Dal ki dulhin is a traditional baliatic dish and it is a whole meal in itself. The kids love it too.
We can call it our 'traditional Indian dumpling lentil soup' .

It's a nice tadke wali dal where u roll a small portion of atta dough into size of puri (bit thicker) n let it slip into container of boiling precooked Dal....in ranchi we shape the puri in form of flower.






दाल वाली रोटी के लिए अरहर की दाल पकने पर उसमे ज्यादा पानी डाले
अब उसमे कुटी लालमिर्च  धनिया पाउडर हींग डाले
पकने दे

आटे में पिसी लाल मिर्च थोड़ी सी पिसा जीरा नमक डाल कर गूँथ ले

अब इसकी पूरी बेलकर (थोड़ी मोटी_ दाल में डाले
थोडा घी डाले

दस पंद्रह मिनिट उबलने दे
अब थोड़ी सी शक्कर डाले

जब पक जाये तब लहसुन प्याज़ ज़ीरे का तड़का बना कर डाले

हरी धनिया  डाले
इसमें ऊपर से फ्राई प्याज़ डाले



I make dal ki dulhin when ever I have lots of left over arhar dal.
